Valencia hosts Lille

With the hope of going up to second place or even better, Valencia hosts Lille at the Estadio Mestalla in a match from Group H of the Champions League. This is our observation for this fixture in our Champions League predictions for today.

Valencia started very strong their Champions League campaign, beating Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge in the English capital. This made us believe that Los Che are up for some serious business in the competition, but in their next two matches against Ajax and Lille they only won one point.

The 0-3 defeat against Ajax was followed by a 1-1 draw against Lille on French soil. The Spaniards were very close to winning this one, after Denis Cheryshev opened the score for them. They had the bad luck to concede an equaliser in the 95th minute, when Jonathan Ikone equalised for the Dogs.

During the weekend Valencia stopped a negative run of four consecutive games without a win. Albert Celades’ players visited Espanyol in Barcelona, achieving a 2-1 win. Dani Parejo from a penalty kick and Maxi Gomez secured the win for Los Che.

What about Lille?

The French team is at the bottom of Group H, having won just one point so far – the one won against Valencia in the previous round. This match at the Mestalla is probably Lille’s last chance for something more in this group. If they suffer a third defeat, they won’t have any chances even for the third place.

Opposite to this, Lille are doing pretty good in the French Ligue 1 so far. Right now the Dogs are 5th in the standings, just one point behind the 3rd Nantes and the Champions League zone.

What can we advice you in our Champions League predictions for today the match between Valencia and Lille? We believe that the Spanish team will record its second win in this group. Lille will offer them some fight, but Los Che are the favourites here. Good luck!
