Salzburg are hosting Napoli

We are heading to the Red Bull Arena in the city of Salzburg, because Salzburg are hosting Napoli in a match from Group E of the Champions League. Let’s see what’s going on here during our Champions League predictions for today.

Salzburg started their participance in the Champions League in a really terrific way, scoring six goals against Genk in their first game. The Austrians played a pretty good second game as well, but they suffered a dramatic 3-4 loss during the visit to the current European champion Liverpool.

Still we must say that Salzburg played really good at the Anfield. At certain point Liverpool were clear 3-0 ahead, but doing some heroic things, Salzburg managed to equalise. Hwang Hee-Chan, Takumi Minamino and Erling Haland scored for the visitors. Salzburg could have won a point there, but Mohamed Salah’s winning goal secured the win for the hosts.

Obviously Salzburg’s new manager Jesse Marsch is doing a terrific job after being appointed in the summer. Coming from the American MLS, he’s adapting well to European football.

Napoli are the current leaders in this group with 4 points won until now. The Italians started their season with a win at home against Liverpool, which was followed by a 0-0 draw during the visit to Genk. It was quite surprising, because Napoli were absolute favourites against the Belgians, but they were unable to score a winning goal. Against Genk the manager Carlo Ancelotti opted to start his main scorer Dries Mertens from the bench, but even his inclusion didn’t help.

Few days ago Napoli hosted Hellas Verona at the San Paolo, enjoying a 2-0 win. Both goals in the match were scored by the Polish target man Arkadiusz Milik.

That’s our Champions League predictions for the game between Salzburg and Napoli on Wednesday. It’s going to be a tough night for the visitors, because the Austrian side is showing some great form right now.
