Osasuna – Athletic Bilbao
The weakest team in the Spanish La Liga Osasuna hosts Athletic Bilbao in a game from the 29th round of the league.
The club from Pamplona is heading to the Segunda Division next season, having won just 11 points since the start of the season. In 28 matches played so far, Osasuna have just one win – against Eibar in October. They have conceded 67 goals so far and they have lost 19 games of 28 played.
It’s safe to say that there’s no hope for survival for Osasuna anymore, so the team will move back to the Segunda, just an year after it have won back its place in La Liga.
In same time Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Bilbao continues to fight for an Europa League qualification. The Basques are currently 7th in the standings, just four points behind Villarreal and Real Sociedad. Athletic lost at home against Real Madrid in its last game, but now they could once again hop on the winning train and take precious three points from Pamplona.
The home team won’t be able to rely on four of its players, who are injured. Roberto Morales, Tano Bonnin, Miguel Flano and Didier Digard are missing the clash, but Javier Flano and Alejandro Remiro are ready to come back, after being recovered.
Three of Athletic’s players are doubtful for the visit to Pamplona. They are Yeray Alvarez, Alex Remiro and Raul Garcia. The good news for Valverde come from the recovery of Mikel San Jose, Aritz Aduriz, Sabin Merino and Aitor Seguin.
It’s not surprising that Athletic are the heavy favourites to win the game. This team of Osasuna is one of the weakest sides in history of Spanish football, so to see them losing another match won’t be surprising at all. Let’s see if they are able to cause a massive upset to Bilbao.
