Fenerbahche – Galatasaray
It is a really curious situation in the Turkish Super Lig after the first ten rounds of the championship. İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. are the surprising leader so far, while the domestic giants Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are following. And this weekend we will have the chance to watch once again one of the big derbies of Turkish football, because Fenerbahce are hosting Galatasaray.
It’s always a big spectacle, when these two clubs meet each other. The current form or class do not matter in this clash – it’s always unpredictable and difficult to predict.
Right now it looks like Fenerbahce is the team in better form, although they are behind Galatasaray in the standings. But it’s important to note that Fenerbahce won its last three games in the league and didn’t lose neither once in their last five matches.
Galatasaray on the other hand are showing some hesitation lately. Jan Olde Riekerink’s team lost two of its last three games – against Trabzonspor and the current leader İstanbul Başakşehir. It’s curious to see that both games were lost at home, but in same time Galatasaray won its last two away matches. Let’s see if their better away form will help them get a positive result against Fenerbahce as well.
For Dick Advocaat’s Fenerbahce winning points now looks more important than ever. Because of its slow start of the new season, the legendary club is now 8 points behind the leader – something, which is unacceptable for this teams’ ambitions. The good news for Advocaat is the current form of his team. Fenerbahce scored 9 goals in its last three games and conceded just one – a good sign before the big derby against Galatasaray.
Galatasaray on the other hand will try to prove that the bad results in the last few games are just a bad moment for the team and nothing more. There’s no better chance to do it than the big derby with Fenerbahce.
