Denmark – Australia
We are heading to Samara Arena in the city of Samara, where Denmark will try to clinch its qualification for the 1/8-finals of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. The Danish Dynamite meets Australia, looking for a second consecutive win at the competition. Australia on the other hand will try to win its first points on Russian soil. Here are our winning soccer predictions for this clash.
Denmark had a difficult, but successful start at the World Cup. Age Hareide’s boys fought for a precious 1-0 win against Peru, achieved after a goal from Yussuf Poulsen after the halftime break. Everyone in Denmark expected a difficult game against Los Incas and this theory came true – Peru are a team which is hard to beat and they were pretty close to winning at least a point from this game.
Most likely we won’t see any major changes in the Danish team for the next game. If something isn’t broke, you don’t fix it. Against Peru Age Hairede used a 4-2-3-1 formation with Cristian Eriksen being the main main in the number 10 role, playing behind the lone striker Nicolai Jorgensen. Most likely Hareide won’t touch this formation, because coaches rarely make any drastic decisions after winning a game.
Once again Cristian Eriksen is going to be the most important figure in the Danish team. Tottenham Hotspur’s star is the heart and the brain of this team. A lot of things in the Danish game depend on his performance. If Eriksen shows the best of his abilities, for Australia it’s going to be very difficult to stop him.
Australia also played a good game in the first round, but the Soceroos suffered a 1-2 defeat against the big dog in the group – France. Despite of the loss, the Australian team got some deserved compliments of they showed against Les Bleus. When the expectations were for an easy win for France, Australia made it hard for Didier Deschamps’ boys. Ten minutes before the end it was a 1-1 draw between these two sides, before an own goal of Aziz Behich gave France the win.
Of course, it’s always sad when you lose a game, but for Australia this loss could actually mean a confidence booster. The Socceroos did well against one of the best teams in the world and this means a lot. Against Denmark they can use this momentum and do something more in this match.
In 2006 Australia reached the 1/8-finals of the World Cup in Germany, led by the legendary Guus Hiddink. This is also Australia’s best ever performance at the World Cup. Now the Socceroos are motivated to do well once again and why not reach the knockout stages of the tournament. But if they want this to happen, they must achieve positie results in the remaining two matches with Denmark and Peru.
Denmark on the other hand are pretty close to reaching the 1/8-finals. The Danish Dynamite made a huge step in this direction with beating Peru in the first round. If they do the same against Australia, they will wait the final game with France with a lot of more composure and confidence. They certainly wouldn’t want their qualification to depend on the match against France.
These are our winning soccer predictions for the World Cup game from Group C between Denmark and Australia. This clash is important for both teams. Denmark want to clinch their qualification for the knockout phase, while Australia want to keep their chances for something like this. Who will prevail, though?
