Crvena Zvezda welcomes Olympiakos

Crvena Zvezda welcomes Olympiakos at the Stadion Rajko Mitic in a Balkan derby from Group B of the Champions League. We are going to spend few minutes to take a look at this fixture in our Champions League predictions.

Nobody was really surprised that Crvena Zvezda lost their first game in this group. After all, the Serbian team had to visit Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Just as we all expected it, the German side dominated the game and secured a 3-0 win.

Of course, nobody in Serbia was mad at the domestic champion for this performance. Now against Olympiakos Crvena Zvezda has a much bigger chance to win some points. Last year the Serbian side beat Liverpool in Belgrade, so they shouldn’t be underrestimated.

Despite of losing the derby against Partizan recently, Crvena Zvezda remain the current leader in the Serbian Super Liga. In the previous round the champions won against Macva Sabac at home. Tomane, El Fardou Nabouhane and Canas scored for the hosts

Olympiakos won a point in their first game in the group, despite of the fact that they were underdogs against the last season finalist in the competition Tottenham Hotspur. The English side quickly gained two goals advantage in Piraeus, but the Greek side managed to equalise with goals from Daniel Podence and Mathieu Valbuena from a penalty kick. Pedro Martins’ team was put in a very difficult situation against Spurs, but they managed to show some great spirit and fight for the point.

In the Greek Super League 1 Olympiakos are leading the standings, being unbeaten in the first five rounds. Right now they have one point advantage in front of the second Xanthi. In the previous round Olympiakos enjoyed a 2-0 win at home against Lamia.

That’s our Champions League predictions for the game from Group B between Crvena Zvezda and Olympiakos. We are expecting a pretty nice game between these two Balkan sides. Let’s see.
