Chelsea’s plan to get closer to the leaders failed, Moss with West Ham first win
West Ham beat Chelsea champion 1-0 in the London derby at the start of the 16th round in the Premier League. Marco Arnautovich scored the only shot at the sixth minute, ending the series of “hammers” of eight championship games without success. It was the first victory for David Moise, head of West Ham. Chelsea missed the chance to get closer to the leaders before the Manchester derby tomorrow. For champions, it was the first loss in the last eight Premier League games.
Mois had decided to leave Joe Hart on the bench, with Adrian del Castello starting at the door, who played very well in the match against Manchester City a week ago. Winston Reed, Mark Noble and Marco Arnautovich returned to the champions, and Javier Hernandez was among the reserves. Gary Cahill, Davide Tzapakosta and Tiemu Bakayoko started for Chelsea at the expense of Antonio Rudiger, Victor Moses and Danny Drinkwater.
The hosts started very motivated and in the sixth minute they led to the result. Antonius found Arnautovich at the border of the penalty area, the Austrian made a quick double with Lansini, then shot in the corner for 1: 0. In the 15th minute, guests had a penalty shoot-out when Morata fell into the penalty area after being pulled by Reed. The defender’s game was not quite clean, but the Spaniard fell quite easily and Anthony Taylor did not judge anything.
Chelsea gradually pressed. At the 22nd minute Azar centered sharply on the diagonal, but Morata and Bakayoko could not detect. Shortly thereafter, Adrian saved consecutively dangerous blows to Kante and Dzapakosta.
The monster flashes improperly with his head.
In the 54th minute, Arnautovich was drawn to the left and, as he walked past Christensen, the defender deflected the ball with his hand. Anthony Taylor, however, decided not to impose a penalty.
Chelsea’s attacking game did not happen today, though Pedro and Viliand appeared on the pitch.
In the 83rd minute Alvaro Morata missed the cleanest situation that the guests came to. The Spaniard was drawn from Cante behind the hammers, fired hard but lacking precision, and the ball went off the door. Chelsea is now ranked third with a total of 32 points. Despite the victory, West Ham continues to be in the relegation zone, but the “hammers” are already 18.
