Besiktas – Wolverhampton Wanderers

Besiktas’ fans are getting ready for another amazing European night, because on Thursday their favourite teams hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers in a match from Group K of Europa League. Let’s see what’s going on with these two teams during our usual Europa League predictions.

Surprisingly for many, but these two teams are currently without any points won in this group. We are saying “surprisingly”, because they were labeled favourites before the group phase began. But football is unpredictable, so Besiktas and Wolves suffered defeats in their first games in the group.

Besiktas had to visit Slovakian side Slovan in Bratislava and it didn’t end well for them. The hosts won the match with 4-2, proving that they are going to be contenders in this group. The Serbian international Adem Ljajic scored from a penalty kick for Besiktas, while Vasil Bozhikov scored himself an own goal, but Slovan scored four and dominated.

After the break Besiktas’ manager Abdullah Avci tried to change something, picking Hutchinson, Lens and Yalcin to come in. But this didn’t help the Turkish side very much.

Wolverhampton Wanderers had to feel something similar, losing against Sporting Braga at their own Molineux. They conceded only once, but it was enough for Braga to take the win. The winning goal was scored by Ricardo Horta after 71 minutes of playing.

Of course, it’s still too early and both Besiktas and Wolverhampton Wanderers will have enough chances to change their fortunes in this group. The English side is coming from a much better league, but we all know how hard it is to play in Istanbul. The fans there are usually creating a spectacular atmosphere, which makes things very difficult for the visiting teams.

In our Europa League predictions we will say that this game between Besiktas and Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday is totally unpredictable. Maybe both teams to score could do the job for you here.
