Alaves – Real Madrid

The current leader in the Spanish La Liga Real Madrid is travelling to Alaves to meet the team who managed to win points against Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the first rounds of the new season.

Alaves surprised everybody when they managed to achieve a draw at the Vicente Calderon in Madrid, but they really shocked the world when they beat Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Since then, they are not really the most consistent team in the country and they are now placed at 13th position in the table.

Real Madrid on the other hand continues to dominate in La Liga. Recently the Los Blancos had a difficult time, when they were unable to win three times in a row, but in their last two games Zinedine Zidane’s boys scored eight goals against Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao. These two wins allowed them to get on the top of the league once again, having one point more than Sevilla and two more than Barcelona.

The right back Daniel Carvajal is suspended for the game, while Casemiro, Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos are all injured. Against Athletic we saw Pepe and Raphael Varane playing alongside in the heart of the defense, while Isco and Mateo Kovacic replaced Casemiro and Modric in the midfield. We shall see the same thing against Alaves, too. It’s curious to see if Alvaro Morata would get a chance to start the match, after he scored the so important late winner against Bilbao last week.

Deportivo Alaves can’t rely on Victor Laguardia, while Sergio Llamas is back training. Aleksandar Pantic also remaines sidelined with a muscle injury.

Real Madrid are starting to win games in La Liga once again, so we shall expect another solid performance against Alaves, too. The home team managed to get positive results against Atletico and Barcelona, but it was months ago. Everything looks different now.
